In mid-August 2020 the “Wurzel-Blüten” (Root-Flowers) proposal was submitted for the second phase of the competition for the premises of the municipal gardeners for the Office of Parks and Cemeteries of the City of Koblenz. In comparison to the first phase of the competition, the concept was developed and considerably altered (see Report 03/2020)

The root is the prerequisite for the growth of plants. For this reason, the simplified contour of the root constitutes the formal basis for the art object. The root becomes a module from which a flower arises, the Root-Flower. The Root-Flower signifies teamwork, the concentric meeting of several forces, so that a larger communal unit can emerge. Several Root-Flowers link and interlock to make a row of flowers. The row of flowers with its rhythmic dynamics is a symbol of activity, of joyful work, and at the same time a symbol of the functional interrelationship of several manual professions and departments. The row of flowers moves parallel to the paths – to the footpath, the cycle path and the road for vehicles. In this way the row of flowers follows the motion of passers-by. The colour atmosphere corresponds to a radiant bloom of flowers and stands for the parks and gardens. At the end of the row, however, appear shades of silver-grey, which stand for burials.
